Saab lands SEK 1.2bn Swedish Army air defence order

The contract extends Saab's role in Sweden's ground-based air defence modernisation, with brigade-level sensor and command systems set for delivery from 2029.

Saab has secured an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for sensors and command-and-control systems to support a ground-based air defence (GBAD) solution for Swedish Army brigades.

The contract is valued at approximately SEK 1.2 billion, with deliveries scheduled between 2029 and 2030.

- We are very proud to contribute to strengthening the ground-based air defence capability of the Swedish Army brigades, said Carl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab's Surveillance business area.

- It will enhance their ability to conduct air defence operations and represents important recognition of our Giraffe AMB radar and GBAD command-and-control system.

The order builds on previous deliveries to FMV and forms part of Sweden's ongoing efforts to strengthen its ground-based air defence capabilities.

According to Saab, the systems will improve the armed forces' ability to detect, track and counter advanced aerial threats.
