Svekon-Nimbus consortium lands first Swedish workboat order

A consortium with Svekon and Nimbus Group have received their first order from the Swedish Armed Forces for 60 MSMB 200 workboats.

According to a company announcement from Nimbus Group, the order is valued at approximately SEK 260 million, with deliveries scheduled to begin in January 2027 and continue over a period of 36 months.

In March, the partners delivered the first vessel.

The project is led by Svekon, a Swedish engineering company. The MSMB 200 workboat has been developed by Nimbus Group in collaboration with Svekon.

FMV’s accelerated order for 60 boats underscores the value of an agile Swedish defence industry built on strong partnerships, said deputy CEO Martin Frisk in a comment to Defence Nordic.

-  For Svekon, it confirms our role in the Defence Industry Strategy, working closely with FMV and our partner Nimbus to deliver capability faster and strengthen readiness.

In 2024, Nimbus Group and Svekon were awarded a public procurement framework agreement covering the development and manufacture of a smaller workboat for the Swedish Armed Forces.

Nimbus Group has previously indicated that the maximum total order value under the agreement could reach approximately SEK 400 million over a 15-year period.

The agreement предусматриes serial production of up to 100 boats, as well as the supply of spare parts. The MSMB 200 is constructed in aluminium by Alukin.

- FMV has ordered boats in both higher quantities and at a faster pace than outlined in the framework agreement and indicated in the RFQ. This is very positive, Frisk said, adding that the framework agreement runs for a total of 15 years.

- The remaining 40 boats will most likely be ordered in the coming years.

Nimbus Group produces and markets powerboats under the brands Alukin, Aquador, EdgeWater, Falcon, Nimbus and Paragon Yachts.

 The company has been listed on Nasdaq Stockholm First North since February 2021.
