BAE Systems Bofors completes Aston Harald acquisition

The deal brings precision machining and composite manufacturing capabilities deeper into BAE Systems Bofors’ Swedish supply chain

BAE Systems Bofors has completed its acquisition of Aston Harald Mekaniska Verkstad, a Swedish supplier of precision engineering and advanced component machining.

The purchase agreement was signed in February 2026 and has now been finalised, according to Defence Industry Europe.

Aston Harald supplies precision-engineered components to the defence, aerospace and space sectors, alongside commercial customers. The company specialises in composite materials and other advanced manufacturing capabilities serving highly specialised industries.

Headquartered in Kristinehamn in Sweden’s Värmland region, Aston Harald employs around 100 people. In 2023, the company expanded its operational footprint with new facilities in Gothenburg.

Both BAE Systems Bofors and Aston Harald form part of the defence industrial cluster centred on Karlskoga. The companies have maintained a long-standing relationship, with Aston Harald acting for many years as a strategic supplier to BAE Systems Bofors.

The acquisition further strengthens BAE Systems Bofors’ control over critical manufacturing capabilities and supply chain capacity tied to defence and aerospace production in Sweden.
