Experienced profile to lead Terma’s space strategy

Mats Warstedt’s appointment signals a focus on execution and growth as competition intensifies and dual-use demands reshape Europe’s space market

Terma has appointed Mats Warstedt to a senior role in its space division, as the Danish defence and aerospace group sharpens its focus on growth and execution in an increasingly competitive market.

Accoring to a press release from the Danish company, the move comes amid rapid changes across the European space sector, where demand for scalable, dual-use capabilities is rising and competition is intensifying.

Warstedt brings experience from across the Nordic and European defence and space industries, having held senior roles at Patria, RUAG Space and Saab. 

His background includes responsibility for large-scale operations, as well as work on acquisitions, integrations and business transformation.

- Mats brings a strong combination of industry insight, operational leadership and strategic execution, said Thomas Flarup, chief commercial officer at Terma.

- His experience will be instrumental as we strengthen our position in the evolving space market and deliver on our growth ambitions.

Terma is seeking to expand its space activities at a time when governments and commercial customers are placing greater emphasis on resilient, interoperable systems that can serve both civilian and military needs.

Warstedt said the timing of the move reflects the scale of opportunity across the sector.

- I am excited to join Terma at an important time for the space industry, where opportunities across military, civil and institutional domains are expanding, he said.

Terma said companies are under growing pressure to deliver both technological performance and commercial returns as civil and defence applications continue to converge.

The leadership change is intended to strengthen its position across institutional and commercial programmes, with greater emphasis on portfolio prioritisation and disciplined delivery.
