New swedish military vehicle variant set for 2027

The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has announced in a press release that series deliveries of a new Terrängbil 24 (TGB 24) variant will begin in 2027.

The vehicle is produced by Finnish manufacturer Sisu Auto for the Swedish Armed Forces.

- This is a more logistics-oriented variant, in the form of a flatbed truck with a single cab and a longer load bed, Jens Svedberg, systems engineer for light wheeled vehicles at FMV, said in the release.

The vehicle will be the first TGB 24 variant to use new heavy-duty axles, increasing its gross weight and payload capacity. It can also carry a 10-foot ISO container and provide power to equipment on the load bed.

The reinforced load bed is designed to withstand the recoil forces of systems such as a 120 mm mortar. The defence company Patria and the Finnish Defence Forces have already demonstrated the vehicle carrying a mortar firing platform.

The TGB 24 shares its powertrain, driver environment and protection level with the rest of the vehicle family. This is intended to simplify training, maintenance and spare-parts management.

Sisu Auto has manufactured military and heavy-duty commercial vehicles in Finland since 1931. The company employs more than 140 people directly and reported a turnover of EUR 85 million in 2025. It expects turnover to exceed EUR 160 million in 2026.

Further TGB 24 variants are under development, including command, medical and six-wheel-drive vehicles.
