Estonia’s Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur has resigned after a failed ammunition deal for Ukraine left the country facing a potential loss of EUR 70 million.
Estonia had paid the Italian-registered company Datasel S.R.L. in advance for artillery shells, using money from the EU’s European Peace Facility. But the deliveries were repeatedly delayed and, when a shipment finally arrived in 2025, the shells were reportedly found to be faulty.
