Repeated fault warnings were followed by the cockpit displays going dark during a training flight. Hungary has now suspended Gripen training flights pending the investigation, which will be supported by Swedish experts
Hungary has suspended Gripen training flights until further notice following Monday’s incident, in which a JAS 39 Gripen C ran off the runway and caught fire after landing at Szolnok military air base. The pilot ejected from the aircraft and was taken to a military hospital with a back injury.
Saab’s Gripen is a multirole fighter aircraft designed for air defence, ground-attack and reconnaissance missions.
