An operator in Tokyo has remotely controlled a Patria AMV armoured vehicle at the Parola military testing area in Finland, more than 7,800 kilometres away. The demonstration took place on 25 and 26 August. The event was hosted by the Embassy of Finland in Tokyo.
The setup combined the vehicle's drive-by-wire technology, in which steering and other functions can be controlled electronically, with secure 5G connectivity and real-time situational awareness.
