Full-service supplier of critical communication solutions

Drones and unmanned systems are playing a growing role in the defence debate. But for Northcom, the development is not only about the platforms themselves. It is about the critical communication that enables these solutions to work in practice.

Northcom is a full-service supplier of critical communication solutions. Historically, the company has its roots in analogue radio communication, but today Northcom also works with TETRA, DMR, IP/LTE, 4G/5G, mobile network units and integrated solutions.

“We do not simply sell products. We deliver expertise and solutions that must work seamlessly for customers with high demands for stability and security,” says Glenn Møller, Strategic Account Director Defence at Northcom.

Northcom is not a manufacturer in the traditional sense, but has a specialised niche within products and technologies from a range of dedicated suppliers. Its product portfolio includes terminals, radios, routers, tablets, batteries, headsets and customised accessories from a wide range of brands.

Glenn Møller emphasises that Northcom’s role is to act as an adviser, integrator and validation partner. This means that the company can help clarify the customer’s needs, select the right components, test whether the solution works as intended and adapt it to the customer’s specific use case.

“It is a combination of consulting, integration and validation. In close dialogue with the customer, we identify the best-suited solution for specific needs and advise on how they can get the greatest possible value from it,” says Glenn Møller.

He points out that in recent years, Northcom has moved more clearly towards becoming a true solution provider. Where the company was previously often perceived as a supplier of radio equipment, today the task is increasingly about combining several technologies into one complete solution.

Drones require more than the drone itself

This is particularly true in the drone sector, where Northcom is participating in International Drone Show in Odense in 2026 and has also become a member of DI Droner.

We do not simply sell products. We deliver expertise and solutions that must work seamlessly for customers with high demands for stability and security.

Northcom describes the membership as part of its work with drone technology, critical communication, defence, emergency preparedness and civil security, where drones and unmanned systems are increasingly used for surveillance, situational awareness and data collection.

“We complement drone solutions – or rather UxS and UxV solutions. That can be in the air, on water or on land. It is important to point out that we are not only a supplier to one type of platform, but a solution provider for all types of platforms,” says Glenn Møller.

One example could be a customer with a drone or unmanned vehicle who needs a robust communication solution around the platform. In such cases, Northcom can contribute everything from antennas and radio modules to the complete communication solution, allowing the customer to focus on the operational task.

Communication remains the core

“Our core is communication solutions. We do not sell equipment, vehicles or vessels. But we integrate with them,” says Glenn Møller.

Northcom has supplied the Danish Defence and the Danish Home Guard for more than 10 years. Among other things, the company has delivered communication infrastructure for the Danish Navy’s sea rescue boats and TETRA-based radio communication for Danish Defence camps.

Glenn Møller sees a market where needs are growing across the board. Drones and unmanned systems are an important part of the development, not least because of the lessons learned from Ukraine. But the issue is not only about acquiring the latest technology. It is also about delivering solutions that are robust, flexible and operationally useful.

“Drones and unmanned vessels are a major part of the current focus. But classic infrastructure and radio communication are still highly relevant. After many years of reduced defence spending, the Danish Defence needs a lot of equipment, and they will naturally look towards suppliers they trust while also exploring new technology,” he says.

Northcom’s ambition is therefore not only to deliver individual products, but to be a partner for both the Danish Defence and the defence industry. This may be as a direct supplier or as a subcontractor to other players that need communication, integration and technical adaptation as part of their own solutions.

“We want to be a solution provider to the Danish Defence and the defence industry. We can act both as a supplier and as a subcontractor, and we want to deliver the complete solution – from antennas to the communication solution that makes everything work,” says Glenn Møller.
