Terma and MBDA deepen defence partnership

Terma and MBDA have agreed to deepen their cooperation to develop new defence solutions, strengthen Danish industrial capabilities and support future export growth for both companies.

The agreement, signed at Eurosatory, goes beyond traditional industrial participation arrangements and includes joint development activities in the naval domain, according to Terma.

The announcement follows Denmark's recent decision to procure the Eurosam air defence system, jointly owned by MBDA and Thales. The programme is expected to include industrial cooperation involving Danish industry.

In a statement, Henriette Hallberg Thygesen, chief executive of Terma, said MBDA's missile expertise would be combined with Terma's advanced maritime systems capabilities to strengthen both Danish and European defence.

- This partnership builds on a strong and trusted relationship and allows us to develop new solutions together, expand our export opportunities and further strengthen the competencies that are critical to Europe's future security, she said.

For MBDA, the agreement marks the first step in a long-term partnership with Terma and the wider Danish defence industry, according to Eric Béranger, chief executive of MBDA.

Terma said the agreement creates "significant export potential" and will enable the two companies to develop new solutions to help allied nations strengthen their air defence capabilities and maritime security.

The partnership represents a significant step in Terma's continued growth as a European defence company and creates new opportunities to develop advanced solutions alongside one of Europe's leading defence groups.

It also provides access to new international opportunities through MBDA's global market presence and customer base.
