Saab has announced a strategic investment in French software company Comand AI, acquiring a 10 percent stake for 11.1 million euro.

The Paris-based company develops AI-native operational planning software for battlefield environments.

Saab said the company's technology and expertise will be incorporated into its research and development activities, supporting future command-and-control systems and broader C5ISR capabilities.

C5ISR encompasses command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance technologies that increasingly underpin modern military operations.

The investment is expected to support Saab's ongoing development of multi-domain command-and-control solutions and platforms such as GlobalEye, the company's airborne early warning and surveillance system.

According to Saab, advanced AI is becoming a critical enabler for processing large volumes of operational data and supporting decision-making across multiple domains.

Saab said the collaboration supports wider ambitions to build a more resilient and adaptable European defence industrial base capable of developing advanced military capabilities within Europe.
