Afry, a Swedish engineering and design company, is sharpening its focus on the defence sector with the creation of a new segment, "Defence".

The move is intended to address rising demand for security and resilience across the Nordic region as the geopolitical environment grows more uncertain.

- Defence has long been an important part of Afry’s operations. We are already a leading provider of engineering and advisory services in total defence and resilience, said Nicholas Oksanen, EVP and head of global division industry, in a press release.

Drawing on more than 70 years of experience, Afry is consolidating its technical capabilities to strengthen support for defence authorities and industry partners. The segment will cover engineering services, cybersecurity, digitalisation and preparedness.

In March, Afry joined the Danish Confederation of Industry’s defence and security branch (DI Defence and Security), describing the move as an important step in strengthening its position and collaboration within the Nordic defence sector.

- Our broad presence across the Nordic region gives us a strong platform to support the defence and security sector with multidisciplinary expertise, said Kim Hansen, director and head of defence technology Denmark, in a statement.
