BAE rolls out first Slovak CV90 under 152-vehicle contract

BAE Systems Hägglunds advances the Sweden–Slovakia government-to-government deal, with more than 40 percent domestic industry share

The first CV90 infantry fighting vehicle for the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic has been unveiled during a ceremonial rollout at BAE Systems Hägglunds in Sweden.

The first of 152 vehicles rolled off the production line in the second half of 2025 and is undergoing comprehensive testing in Sweden, according to a Friday press release from BAE Systems Hägglunds.

- We are proud to see the Slovak CV90 programme progressing as planned, with effective industrial cooperation at its core, said Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, managing director of BAE Systems Hägglunds.

- Slovakia has joined the family of nations operating the CV90, a combat-proven platform serving multiple European armies.

30 Slovak companies involved

The rollout marks a milestone in Slovakia’s CV90 programme, delivered under a government-to-government agreement between Slovakia and Sweden.

The programme is among the largest modernisation projects undertaken by the Slovak armed forces in recent decades and is intended to support Bratislava’s capability commitments to NATO.

Slovak industrial partners involved in the production and delivery of the vehicles attended the event.

The contract предусматриes significant domestic industrial participation, with Slovak companies accounting for more than 40 percent of the total contract value. The supply chain includes nearly 30 Slovak companies and continues to expand.

The CV9035 MkIV is the latest variant of the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle.

The Slovak configuration is equipped with a 35mm Bushmaster III cannon, an advanced fire control system and a modern digital architecture. 

It also integrates an active protection system and an advanced anti-tank guided missile, enhancing the platform’s survivability and lethality in high-intensity operations.

The CV90 is already in service with eight European nations, including Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.
